Christopher Reginald Chapple

Professor Christopher Chapple is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Honorary Professor at the University of Sheffield, and Visiting Professor at Sheffield Hallam University. His research focuses on functional reconstruction of the lower urinary tract, pharmacological control mechanisms, tissue engineering, and surgical education. He trained at the Middlesex Hospital and the Institute of Urology in London, completing his doctorate thesis there.

He chairs guidelines initiatives, including NICE Guidelines on male LUTS, and co-authored over 700 peer-reviewed publications. Awards include the St Peter’s medal (2011) and SUFU’s Lifetime Achievement Award (2015). He serves as Secretary General of the European Association of Urology and has editorial roles in journals like Neurourology and Urodynamics.

His postgraduate supervision includes students at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. He collaborates with The Robert Luff Foundation and The Urology Foundation for research funding.
