Dr. Christopher R Jones is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Queen Mary University of London, part of the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences. He holds a MSci in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge (2005) and a PhD in Organic Chemistry under Prof. Martin D. Smith (2009). After a Junior Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford, he joined QMUL in 2013 as a Ramsay Memorial Research Fellow and was awarded an EPSRC Early Career Fellowship in 2015.
His research focuses on developing synthetic organic methodologies, particularly aryne chemistry and functionalized carbon nanomaterials. Key interests include sustainable chemical feedstocks and applications in drug discovery. He teaches undergraduate courses in organic chemistry and supervises PhD students in areas like aryne-mediated synthesis and carbon nanomaterial functionalization.
Recent grants include an EPSRC-funded project on catalytic reactive intermediates (2015–2021) and collaborations with AstraZeneca on ADC linker design. Awards include the EPSRC Early Career Fellowship. His lab is affiliated with the Centre for Chemical Research, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to chemical challenges.
