Christopher Kam

Christopher Kam is a Professor of Political Science at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Arts. He serves as the Data & Models Certificate Coordinator, overseeing academic and training initiatives in quantitative methods. His research focuses on comparative political institutions, legislative and judicial politics, and the application of quantitative methods to historical and institutional analysis. Kam holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester (2002).

His research spans comparative politics, electoral systems, and historical political economy. Notable themes include legislative behavior, party formation, and the economic roots of political institutions. He has extensively studied 19th-century British and European political systems, analyzing electoral competition, vote-buying dynamics, and the impact of institutional reforms.
