Christopher Dunn

Christopher Dunn is Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Tulane University's School of Liberal Arts, specializing in Brazilian cultural studies. His research examines countercultural movements during Brazil's military dictatorship (1964-1985), with particular focus on Tropicália and its lasting impact on Brazilian arts and social movements.

Research Focus: Dunn employs multidisciplinary approaches analyzing literature, visual culture, cinema, and popular music to understand cultural resistance. His award-winning book Contracultura explores how 1970s alternative movements influenced emerging social activism around race, gender, and sexuality.
