About
Christopher Bégin is a Research Fellow at the Max Weber Kolleg for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies within the University of Erfurt. His research explores the intersection of religiosity, rituals, and electronic music culture, particularly focusing on how rave and clubbing experiences create resonance and meaning in contemporary urban settings. The project is funded by the Jutta Heidemann Foundation.
Research Focus: Bégin's work examines the evolution of rave culture from its anarchic 1980s-1990s origins to its regulated modern form, analyzing how changes in venues, regulations, and post-pandemic dynamics affect participants' sense of community and spirituality. His framework draws from Hartmut Rosa's resonance theory, emphasizing self-world relations and liminality.
