Christoph Wessling is a Visiting Professor at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg, Faculty 6, Department of Urban Design and Urban Studies. He has been a researcher and lecturer at BTU for over 20 years and previously served as Deputy Professor of Urban Planning and Urban Development at the Technical University of Berlin (2020–2023). He co-founded the dual-degree master's program Urban Design - Sustainable Revitalization (since 2014), collaborating with the University of Cairo and Alexandria. Wessling established the Middle East Cooperation Unit at BTU to support heritage development and post-conflict reconstruction research. He also mentored the integrated urban development plan for Chernivtsi, Ukraine (2016–2019) and is a member of the PAN-Ukraine Initiative supporting Ukrainian universities.
His research focuses on revitalizing historic urban areas, conflict-affected regions, and cross-border collaborations. He actively engages in international projects, particularly in the Middle East and Ukraine, emphasizing sustainable urban strategies. Wessling’s work bridges academic teaching and practical urban planning, advocating for inclusive and heritage-sensitive development.
