Christoph Enzel is a classical saxophone lecturer at the University of Music and Theatre Rostock. He is the tenor saxophonist of clair-obscur (20-year saxophone quartet) and permanent saxophonist with Vladimir Jurowski's group United Berlin (since 2014). His freelance work includes performances with Berlin Philharmonic, MDR Radio Symphony Leipzig, and NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester. He leads the improvisation ensemble Hydroglisseur, experimenting with amplification and effects.
As a composer/arranger, Enzel has created over 100 works for diverse ensembles (published by Schott Music, Advance Music, etc.). Notable compositions include Homers complete Odyssee (2019 theatre piece), Lilith (2021 dance/performance work), and the 2019 Naxos/ComCord Records CD Rosary, featuring his own works. His arranging commissions come from institutions like Stiftung Berliner Philharmoniker.
Enzel's artistic output spans solo performances, chamber music, orchestral collaborations, and interdisciplinary projects blending theatre/dance with saxophone music. His work emphasizes modern composition techniques while maintaining deep roots in classical traditions.
