Christine Sukic is a Professor of Early Modern English Literature at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, where she has held roles including Director of the CIRLEP research team (EA 4299) and Head of the English Department (2012–2014). Her academic journey includes an Aggregation (1990), Doctorate (1997), and HDR (2007). She specializes in 16th–17th century English literature, with a focus on heroism representation, Mannerism-Baroque aesthetics, and dramatic form. Her research explores themes like the ineffable in heroism, passions in Renaissance drama, and early modern translation studies.
Her administrative leadership includes roles on the UFR-LSH Management Board (2015–present) and jury memberships for prestigious academic awards such as the SAES-AFEA research prize. She has directed over 30 academic volumes and edited key texts like George Chapman’s *Bussy D’Ambois* for the Pléiade series. Her 2025 monograph *Ineffable Bodies: Heroism on the Early Modern Stage* (Routledge) redefines tragic poetics through the lens of ineffability.
Scholarly contributions span Shakespearean studies, Marlowe’s *Massacre at Paris*, and Samuel Daniel’s works.
