Christina Sinding

Christina Sinding is a Professor in the School of Social Work at McMaster University, specializing in health and social justice. Her research examines how social marginalization impacts cancer care access and equity, focusing on groups such as older women, LGBTQ+ communities, and individuals with mental illnesses. She critiques patient-centric healthcare models and explores their implications for marginalized patients. Sinding holds a B.A. (Honours) in English from the University of Western Ontario, an M.S.W. from McMaster, and a Ph.D. in Social Science and Health from the University of Toronto. Her work bridges qualitative research, arts-based methods, and institutional ethnography to address systemic disparities in healthcare delivery. She teaches courses on qualitative methods, narratives of illness, and health representations across lifecourses.
