About
Dr. Christina Ruby is a researcher in the Biology Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), affiliated with the John J. and Char Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. She holds a BA in Psychology from Miami University, a PhD in Physiology from Kent State University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neurobiology of Alcoholism and Addiction at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
Her research focuses on neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly addiction and alcohol use disorders, emphasizing the role of circadian rhythms and sleep disruption. Current projects include studying adolescent alcohol exposure's effects on circadian rhythms, the impact of alcohol on circadian clock genes, and chronotherapeutics for neurocognitive performance. She collaborates with institutions on circadian timing mechanisms in tissue regeneration and human neurocognitive performance.
In student training, Dr. Ruby emphasizes hands-on research in a collaborative environment, training students in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication. Her lab aims to publish and present research while fostering teamwork and ethical scientific practices.
Dr. Ruby's work bridges molecular biology, neurochemistry, and behavioral neuroscience, with long-term goals to translate findings into clinical therapies for addiction and chronodisruption-related health issues. Her lab is located in Kopchick Hall, Room 112.
