About
Brant Hasler is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, with secondary appointments in Clinical and Translational Science and Psychology. He directs the Center for Sleep and Circadian Science's Behavioral Sleep Medicine training program.
Research examines sleep/circadian regulation of affect and motivation, particularly in adolescent mood and substance use disorders. Uses ecological momentary assessment, neuroimaging, and circadian protocols to study real-world mechanisms.
Key publications demonstrate associations between circadian misalignment, altered reward processing, and adolescent substance use. Current NIH-funded projects investigate sleep-alcohol interactions and chronotherapeutic interventions.
Awards include the Research Society on Alcoholism Junior Investigator Award and University of Pittsburgh mentoring honors. Leads multiple R01 grants on circadian rhythms and adolescent substance use.
