Christina Pugh

Christina Pugh is a Professor of English in the Program for Writers at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Distinguished Scholar of the Year award in Humanities from UIC and has received prestigious fellowships including the Guggenheim and Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowships. Her research focuses on poetry and poetics, blending literary criticism with explorations of sound, ekphrasis, and contemporary poetic forms.

Her major publications include Ghosts and the Overplus (2024), The Right Hand (2024), and Stardust Media (2020). Awards span creative and scholarly recognition, including the Lucille Medwick Memorial Award and Grolier Poetry Prize. She has held residencies at the American Academy in Rome, Bogliasco Foundation, and others.
