Christina Corfield

Christina Corfield is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Sciences. She is an artist and media scholar whose work interrogates the intersection of technology, cultural production, and historical representation.

Her research focuses on:

• Critical examination of historical amnesia in technology fetishism
• Reconsidering the Pony Express as communications technology and cultural artifact
• Exploring ephemeral paper media's role in post-digital society
• Media ecologies and the construction of technological meaning through popular culture
• Using non-digital materials for critical making and resistance to tech monopolies

Corfield's creative practice has been exhibited at institutions including:

She is currently working on a book about the Pony Express's media ecology and new research on cardboard's cultural significance.
