Christian Lehmann is a full-time Professor of General and Comparative Linguistics at the University of Erfurt since 1999. He previously held the Chair of General Linguistics at the University of Bielefeld (1984–1999), collaborated at the University of Cologne (1981–1984), and worked in research roles at the University of Cologne (1979–1981) and Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio Grande di Sul, Brazil (1975–1977).
