Christal R. Seahorn

Christal R. Seahorn serves as Associate Professor of Writing and Digital Rhetoric and Writing Program Director in the College of Human Sciences and Humanities at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, with prior leadership roles as Inaugural First-Year Composition Director (2014-2018) and Interim Associate Dean (2020-2021).

Her academic credentials include a Doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and a Master of Arts in English Renaissance Literature from the University of York, England.

Dr. Seahorn's research centers on Digital Discourse Analysis, Writing Program Administration, and Activist Rhetorics, with specialized focus on gender dynamics and pre-battle oratory traditions. Her interdisciplinary work bridges technical communication, social justice, and historical rhetoric, examining how digital platforms reshape discourse communities and activist movements.

Her scholarly contributions appear in publications including Queers in American Popular Culture, Folklore Forum, The Peer Review, and Narrative Culture, reflecting her commitment to advancing writing studies through critical cultural analysis.

She has received significant recognition:
