Chris Smith

Chris Smith is an Associate Professor in the Art & Design Department at Flagler College, where he has taught since at least 2005. He served as Department Chair from 2005 to 2009. His expertise spans graphic design, advertising, and branding, with a focus on integrating industry experiences into teaching. He holds an M.A. in Advertising Design from Syracuse University and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the University of North Florida.

Smith’s career includes roles as Creative Director at The Shepherd Agency, working with clients like CSX Transportation and Acuvue Contact Lenses. He currently advises clients such as Steinway & Sons and Volvo Club of America. His teaching emphasizes practical skills through service learning, internships, field trips, and mentorship programs.

He has received recognition including Addy Awards (Gold/Silver) and PRSA Image Awards. Beyond teaching, Smith contributes to professional organizations like AIGA, mentors students in national competitions, and supports community initiatives through design services for charities. His work extends to global education, having taught graphic design in Haiti and leading mentorship programs at Sapient Nitro Advertising Agency.
