Chris Hogan is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota's College of Science and Engineering. He is affiliated with the Institute for Engineering in Medicine and leads the Particle Calibration Laboratory.

- Designing processes utilizing nanoparticles, molecular clusters, and ions in the gas phase for manufacturing applications, including film deposition, coatings, and additive manufacturing.
- Materials synthesis and metrology techniques involving nanotechnology and particle contamination control.
- Fundamental studies of aerosols and gas phase chemical physics, with applications in medical aerosols and bioaerosols.
- Investigating energy transfer, mass transfer, and reactivity in aerosols.
- Non-equilibrium particle-laden systems, including plasmas and high-concentration aerosols.
- Atomization and sprays for agricultural crop protectants.
