Chris Haney

Chris Haney, an instructor in Forensic Investigation at Jacksonville State University's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, serves as the Undergraduate Coordinator and Director of the department's internship program. Holding an M.S. in Criminal Justice from JSU, he is currently pursuing his doctorate at the University of Alabama.

• 22 years in law enforcement across patrol, community policing, school resource, investigations, narcotics, and tactical roles
• Specialized in crimes of sexual/physical abuse and child homicide for 9 years
• 6-year supervisor at Etowah County Drug Task Force
• Lead hostage negotiator for Gadsden/Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group
• 20-year veteran use-of-force instructor

Research Interests: Mr. Haney focuses on homicide investigations, interview and interrogation techniques, and psychology of criminal conduct, leveraging his extensive field experience to inform pedagogy and forensic practice.
