Chris Comstock is a Lecturer in the School of Health and Human Sciences at South Dakota State University (SDSU) and serves as Director of the B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics program. He teaches undergraduate courses including Food, People and the Environment (NUTR 111), Nutrition for Exercise and Sport (NUTR 225), Human Nutrition (NUTR 315), and Medical Nutrition Therapy I/II (NUTR 423/523 & 425/525). He advises SDSU's Nutrition and Health Sciences Club and oversees the Didactic Program in Dietetics.
Education: M.S. in Nutrition, Food Science, and Exercise Science; B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics (SDSU); B.A. in Biology (Concordia College). Professional credentials include Registered Dietitian, Licensed Nutritionist, and Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) trainee.
Research interests focus on sustainability in food systems, medical nutrition therapy, and interdisciplinary health education. Professional memberships include the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, South Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (SDAND), and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. He has held leadership roles in SDAND as board member and public policy coordinator (2019–2023).
