Chitra V

Dr Chitra V is a Lecturer at The Australian National University's School of Archaeology & Anthropology. Her research focuses on visual methodologies in environmental and urban studies, particularly in Mumbai. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from Johns Hopkins University, a Master in Visual Communication from IIT Bombay, and a Bachelor in Architecture from KRVIA.

Her work examines how technical drawings and visual practices shape environmental policies and coastal futures. Key research interests include climate change, science and technology studies, and the intersection of art with environmental advocacy. She explores topics such as flood management, waste ecology, and urban infrastructure through interdisciplinary lenses.

Her upcoming book, Drawing Coastlines, analyzes how visual representations influence coastal development and climate resilience. Current projects include studies on insect industries and human-insect relationships. Chitra's research bridges anthropology, environmental science, and visual arts, advocating for creative approaches to ecological crises.
