About
Kate Paxman is a Lecturer and Ph.D. candidate in Media Arts at the University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture. Her work spans film, sound, animation, and drawing, focusing on environmental violence and feminist methodologies along climate-vulnerable coastlines. She co-directs the More Just, More Sustainable Futures: Artistic Research PhD Symposium and Cine Sisters SW CIC, a collective supporting women and gender-minority filmmakers in the southwest UK.
Her research explores intersections of ecology, art, and activism, as seen in her published essay Sirens (2022) in Multiple Ecologies/Diverse Ontologies. Kate has received awards from Aeolus Online, BEAST FEaST (2021), and Arts Council England.
Her projects emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, sustainability, and inclusive artistic networks. Current initiatives include coastal environmental art projects and fostering gender equity in media arts through Cine Sisters SW CIC.
