Chico Zimmerman

Chico Zimmerman, the Hazel Lillian Amland Grose Professor of Classics at Carleton College, is a philologist and generalist in Classical Studies. He has been at Carleton since 1989 and currently serves as co-Chair of CEDI and the IDE Strategic Plan Steering Group.

Research Focus: Hellenistic poetry, Latin poets Lucan and Ovid, and intersections of cognitive science with learning and pedagogy. He also specializes in higher education assessment, learning technologies, and faculty development.

Professional Roles: Coordinator of the Perlman Center for Learning and Teaching; Mentor for Carleton’s first Houston Posse. Teaches courses in Greek/Latin language, classical epics, and the Greek and Latin roots of English.
