Chenghui Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Her research focuses on criminology, bias crime, racial/ethnic inequalities, and quantitative methods, with an emphasis on how social structures influence crime reporting behaviors and perceptions of bias crimes. She employs survey experiments and advanced statistical techniques to explore these issues.
Dr. Zhang holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Kentucky (2022), an LL.M. in Jurisprudence from Tongji University (China), and a Chinese legal professional qualification. Her work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Experimental Criminology and Race and Social Problems, and she has received grants from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ).
Her research highlights include a study on recurring campus surveys of interpersonal violence and award-winning work on the social construction of hate crimes. She actively engages in community outreach to promote social justice and has taught both undergraduate and graduate-level sociology courses.
