Dr. Chen Meng is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Marketing, Global Business and Economics within the College of Business and Public Management at Kean University. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics, M.A. in Economics, and M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois. Previously, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Boston University and the University of Chicago.
Her research focuses on Labor Economics, Law and Economics, Economics of Education, and Health Economics, with particular emphasis on applied microeconomic analyses of policy interventions and labor market dynamics. She teaches courses such as Principles of Economics and Econometrics.
Dr. Meng’s recent work examines topics ranging from wage transparency policies in Colorado, the long-term impacts of school entry age in China, to the effects of automation on labor quality and mortgage market behaviors under political transitions. Her research employs both traditional econometric methods and machine learning approaches, as seen in her 2024 study on religious profiles and substance abuse among emerging adults.
