Charlotte Silbermann is a Research Fellow in Art History at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle since 2019, focusing her PhD on New Materialism and contemporary installation art. She holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature and Art Studies from the University of Potsdam (2015), with a thesis on Louise Bourgeois’s installations. Prior roles include work as a curator at the Boros Collection and Gropius Bau, studio manager for artists Andreas Wellnitz and Anri Sala, and freelance writer for Der Freitag and Monopol.
Her research explores Space Theory, intersections of Art and Feminism, New Materialism, and Queer Theory. Recent publications analyze Lygia Clark’s ecological art and generational perspectives on DDR culture. Upcoming projects include collaborations with the Neues Theater Halle and exhibitions at the Burg’s annual art showcases.
She actively participates in institutional governance (e.g., Academic Senate meetings) and public engagement, organizing events like the Langen Nacht der Wissenschaften sound installation Dreamworld.
