Charles Kanwischer is Professor of Drawing and Director of the School of Art at Bowling Green State University's College of Arts and Sciences. He holds an MFA from Yale University School of Art in Painting and Printmaking and a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Iowa.
His artistic practice explores the intersection of non-objective and representational imagery within landscape contexts using various media including drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography. Professor Kanwischer has exhibited nationally with solo exhibitions at Miller/Block Gallery in Boston and Shaheen Contemporary Art in Cleveland.
His work is included in permanent collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Yale University Art Gallery, Smith College Museum of Art, and Akron Museum of Art. He has received six Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships throughout his career.
