Charles Hemard is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Art & Art History at Auburn University. He holds an MFA from the University of Georgia and BA from the University of Southern Mississippi. Hemard developed the photography concentration in Auburn's BFA program and has taught at multiple universities.
His artistic practice explores:
- Human interactions with natural environments
- Contemporary landscapes of the American South
- Intersections of progress and environmental decline
- Digital and traditional photographic techniques
Hemard's work has been exhibited at prominent institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and Columbus Museum. His photography series examine themes of environmental change, human impact on landscapes, and cultural interpretations of nature.
