Changyou Sun

Dr. Changyou Sun is the George L. Switzer Professor of Forestry at Mississippi State University, affiliated with the College of Forest Resources. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Economics in Forestry and an M.S. in Forestry from Auburn University, as well as a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

His research focuses on international trade of forest products, timberland investment, and market price analysis, with additional expertise in natural resource policy and statistical methods. Teaching interests include natural resource law and research methodology.

Recent articles highlight his work on 2025: conservation easement adoption, heir property division, and climate impacts on forestry. In 2024, he addressed legal disputes and sawmill performance. Earlier studies examine price volatility, trade barriers, and wildfire risk management. His work spans Environmental Economics, Forest Policy, and Land Law.
