Chad Leith

Chad Leith serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the McKeown School of Education at Salem State University. He is also currently the Executive Vice President and Principal of the Horace Mann Laboratory School, a public elementary school located on Salem State's campus. His work focuses on improving educational outcomes for English Language Learners (ELLs) in urban settings, informed by his experience as a bilingual educator and Peace Corps volunteer in Cape Verde.

Chad's professional expertise includes Sheltered English Instruction (SEI), urban education, and multicultural education. His research examines the intersection of education and immigration, particularly through his work in Boston Public Schools (1996–2012) as an ESL teacher, instructional coach, and ELL administrator. He holds Massachusetts licenses as an ESL teacher (Grades 5–12) and administrator (K–6 and 5–8).

Chad actively contributes to institutional governance through membership in committees such as the Salem State University Academic Policies Committee, School of Education Diversity Committee, and Task Force on Comprehensive Internationalization.
