Cecil Slaughter

Cecil Slaughter is a Professor of Practice in Dance and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Performing Arts Department at Washington University. He is a choreographer, dancer, and actor with extensive professional experience, including fourteen years with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. He founded The Slaughter Project (2004–2015) and currently leads the WUDance Collective, a student dance company.

• Education: MFA from University of Iowa; training at Jeraldyne's School of the Dance and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company

Research focuses on Lester Horton Modern Dance Technique and Contemporary Jazz Dance. His choreography has been showcased nationally and internationally, with works featured at the American College Dance Festival Association's national showcase. He has served as a grants panelist for the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission and Missouri Arts Council, and currently sits on the board of the Missouri Dance Organization.

Advising and creative leadership include directing student dance ensembles and collaborating with theatre companies like St. Louis Black Rep and MADCO. His work spans performance, education, and community engagement in the arts.
