Cathy Holt

Cathy Holt is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester's Division of Cardiovascular Sciences. Her research focuses on atherosclerosis mechanisms, vascular occlusion, and stem cell therapies for myocardial infarction. She holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield (1989) and a Senior Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (2015). Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.

Research Interests:

• Pathogenesis of atherosclerosis
• Vascular occlusion post-angioplasty/stenting
• Genetically modified stem cell therapies
• Role of transcription factors (c-Myb) and calcium signaling

Teaching Roles:

• Module coordinator for MRes Cardiovascular Sciences
• Undergraduate lecturer in Cardiovascular Systems and MBChB programs
• Supervisor of 10+ PhD students and multiple MRes/MPhil candidates
