Catherine Wilcox

Dr. Catherine Wilcox is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University, combining academic teaching with a prolific career as an author of eight novels, nonfiction, and short stories. She holds a BA in English Language & Literature from Durham University and a PhD in Theology from King’s College, Durham. Her research interests span Gothic Studies, Place Writing, Narrative Theology, and innovative publishing formats like serialized blog novels. She supervises two PhD candidates in Creative Writing and leads initiatives in the Centre for Gothic Studies and Brexit-related literary analysis. Wilcox is a recipient of the 2018 Jerusalem Award for Short Form Radio and holds fellowships with the SHEA and RSL. She regularly contributes to The Church Times and maintains a blog exploring narrative and religious themes. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes balancing critical analysis with creative exploration, preparing students for evolving publishing landscapes while fostering immersive fictional world-building.
