Dr Catherine Warner is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the MA in Music Therapy and MA Therapeutic Music Studies at the University of the West of England (UWE). She is an HCPC-registered music therapist with 29 years of experience, a professional cellist, and pianist. Her work focuses on expanding access to skilled music therapy for individuals with complex needs, including mental health support and empowerment through participatory research.

Her research expertise includes music therapy practice in Romania, neurorehabilitation, disability studies, and child bereavement. She co-develops international placement programs in Rwanda, Uganda, Brazil, Romania, and other countries. Recent projects include a book on Contemporary Issues in Music Therapy Training (Routledge) and an edited volume on Culture and Practice of Music Therapy Supervision (Jessica Kingsley). She leads Erasmus+ collaborations and chairs the Training and Education Committee for the British Association of Music Therapy (BAMT), shaping UK curriculum guidelines.
