Catherine Nolin serves as Professor and Chair of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia. Her research centers on social geography, examining forced migration, mining injustices, and Indigenous rights in Guatemala and Canada.
Nolin investigates structural violence in resource extraction contexts, refugee experiences, and forensic anthropology's role in post-genocide societies. She co-directs field schools documenting Canadian mining impacts in Guatemala, linking corporate practices to human rights violations.
Her honors include the 2023 Ehor Boyanowsky Academic of the Year Award and UNBC's Excellence in Service Award. Current projects analyze forced migration drivers in Central America and waste-derived biomaterials.
