Catherine J. Turco is the Michael M. Koerner (1949) Professor of Entrepreneurship and Professor in MIT Sloan's Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management group, with joint appointment in Economic Sociology. She joined MIT Sloan after industry experience in technology investment banking and software venture management.
Education:

- MA and PhD in Sociology from Harvard University (Presidential Scholar)
Research examines cultural dynamics in organizations and markets using ethnographic methods, with focus on meaning creation in economic systems. Her work investigates how social media transforms organizational communication and how communities form around street-level markets.
