Catherine Craig is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus, affiliated with the Irving K. Barber Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD and MA from Baylor University and a BA from St. Thomas University.
Her research focuses on the history of political philosophy, particularly classical thought, with special attention to Plato and the intersections of politics with literature, art, and myths. She explores themes such as friendship ethics in modern media, disaster narratives, and political aesthetics through artistic works like those of JMW Turner.
Her recent publications include a monograph on Plato’s Statesman (Lexington Press, 2023) and articles in journals like History of Political Thought and Political Science Reviewer. She co-edits volumes on artistic foundations of political communities and disease/disaster theory.
Dr. Craig teaches courses on classical political thought and contemporary political philosophy. She actively collaborates with scholars like Ann Ward and Sara MacDonald on interdisciplinary projects blending philosophy with art and literature.
