Catherine Aicken is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Brighton's School of Education, Sport and Health, within the Public Health and Health Conditions Research Excellence Group. She holds honorary roles as a Research Fellow at University College London (UCL) and a contract with the UK Office for Health Improvement and Disparities. Her work bridges academic research with practical public health initiatives, including collaborations with NHS organizations and community sectors.
Education: PhD in Public Health (UCL, 2018), Master's in Public Health (London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, 2005), and Bachelor's (UCL, 2002).
Research Interests:
- Sexual health, digital health interventions, and long-term condition management
- Evaluation of complex health interventions and patient experiences
- Health equity, frailty in older adults, and ethnic inequalities in healthcare

- Leading the design of Brighton & Hove's decennial Health Counts 2024 survey

Teaching and Supervision:
Teaches research methods, emphasizing practical application and student engagement. Supervises postgraduate students in mixed-methods health research, with a focus on capacity-building for future researchers.
