Professor Nigel Sherriff serves as Director of the Centre for Transforming Sexuality & Gender at the University of Brighton’s School of Education, Sport and Health. His work focuses on collaborative, socially impactful research addressing health inequities through a social justice lens.

Research Themes: Sexual health (HIV/STIs), LGBTQ+ health inequalities, parenting dynamics, global health policy, and stigma reduction. Current projects include GambLGBTQ+ (gambling harms in LGBTQ+ communities), WHO ProSPeRo (point-of-care STI testing), and Health Counts 2024 (coastal city health survey).
Recent Publications examine syphilis diagnostic testing, urban health determinants, and dietary interventions for low-income families. Collaborations span EU, UKRI, and WHO initiatives.
Supervisory Interests: PhD projects on sexual health, vulnerable populations’ healthcare access, gender-based violence, and health policy. He also supports PhD by publication candidates.
