Casey M. Stark

Dr. Casey M. Stark serves as an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of History at Bowling Green State University's College of Arts and Sciences, where she has taught since 2018 after positions at Idaho State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and University of Toledo. Her expertise centers on ancient Roman history with specialization in religious institutions and gender dynamics.

Her educational foundation includes a Ph.D. in Ancient History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, complemented by an M.A. in History and dual B.A. degrees in French and History from the University of Toledo.

Dr. Stark's research explores the intersection of religion, gender, and imperial power in Roman society, with recurring investigations of Vestal Virgins, urban sacred spaces, and material culture through epigraphy and numismatics. Her work extends to reception studies examining classical antiquity's modern interpretations and medieval adaptations of Greco-Roman texts.

While her sole publication remains the 2005 edited volume on veterans' oral histories, her recent conference activity (2016-2018) demonstrates concentrated scholarship on Roman religious authority through presentations at major venues including the Association of Ancient Historians and Classical Association of the Middle West and South.
