About
Prof. Carsten Lüder is a Professor of Medical Microbiology and Infection Immunology at Georg-August-University Göttingen. He leads a research group focused on the molecular mechanisms of Toxoplasma gondii-host interactions, immune evasion, and stage differentiation. His academic journey includes a Diploma in Biology (1991), PhD (1995), Habilitation (2004), and an Apl.-Professorship (2009).
Research interests include immune evasion via STAT1 signaling inhibition, apoptosis interference, and tissue-specific parasite persistence. Notable collaborations involve Dr. Martin Blume (Robert-Koch-Institut) and Prof. Thomas Meyer (University Medicine Göttingen). Recent work explores chronic infection's impact on immune reactivity and the role of cellular metabolism in Toxoplasma stage conversion.
Publications highlight discoveries in chromatin remodeling during IFN-γ inhibition, redox homeostasis in bradyzoite formation, and divergent host-parasite transcriptomes. His lab is affiliated with the GGNB Molecular Biology of Cells and Microbiology programs.
