Dr. Carolina Herrera is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Infectious Disease at Imperial College London's Faculty of Medicine. She holds affiliations with the Immuno-Pathology Network, Microbiome Network, and the Section of Immunology of Infection. Her research focuses on mucosal infection and inflammation, particularly using ex vivo tissue models to study HIV/SIV, HCV, and Zika virus transmission, as well as evaluating prevention strategies like pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and vaccines.
