Carol Trim

Dr. Carol Trim serves as Principal Lecturer in Cancer Biology at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), based in the School of Psychology and Life Sciences within the Department of Natural and Applied Sciences. She concurrently holds leadership roles as Deputy Section Director for Natural and Applied Sciences and Course Director for levels 5-6 of the Bioscience suite, having joined CCCU in 2014.

Her academic credentials include:

• PhD from the University of Kent: Proteomic investigation of surrogate markers for tyrosine kinase inhibitor efficacy in EGFR-targeted cancer therapy
• MSc in Biochemistry from Kent and Canterbury Hospital: Development of advanced leucocyte labeling techniques for infection/inflammation imaging

Research spans two interdisciplinary domains: (1) Oncology, where venoms are analyzed for novel breast/pancreatic cancer treatments in human and canine models; (2) Comparative Physiology, examining cortisol-mediated stress responses in spiders, scorpions, and dogs to advance animal husbandry standards. This dual focus integrates molecular biology with translational medicine.

Prior appointments encompass Associate Lecturer at the Open University (teaching Introducing Health Sciences SDK125), Administrator in the University of Kent's Faculties Support Office, and postdoctoral research at Neusentis (recombinant sodium channels), the Smales lab (predictive cell line productivity tools), and with Professor Bill Gullick (nuclear Neuregulin analysis via digital microscopy).
