Professor Carol Curran is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences at Ulster University, where she has worked since 1996. Her career includes leadership roles such as Head of the School of Nursing and Chief Executive Officer of Ulster University Health Limited. She is a globally recognized nurse leader and visiting professor at Qiqihar Medical University, China.

Carol’s research focuses on public health, palliative care, cultural competence, and prostate cancer, with over 150 citations. Her work emphasizes improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes through evidence-based interventions and cross-cultural practices. Recent publications highlight psychosocial support in oncology and cultural adaptation in global healthcare settings.
She received the OBE in 2014 for her contributions to education and nursing. Her leadership extends to ministerial roles, including Chair of the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nurses and Midwives, and she advocates for healthcare standards through the UK Council of Deans of Health.
