Carlton Moore serves as Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief for Research and Quality Improvement in the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
His research centers on the intersection of quality improvement and clinical informatics, with specific focus on patient safety during hospital discharge and health information technology applications for improving follow-up of abnormal test results. Current work employs text mining and natural language processing tools to identify abnormal results in clinical notes and investigates electronic health record usability impacts on patient safety.
Dr. Moore holds a BS and MS from New Jersey Institute of Technology, an MD from Cornell University Medical College, completed residency and fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and earned an additional MS from Columbia University.
