About
Carlotta Letizia Zanasi is a permanent lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts Bologna (ABABO) in the School of Restoration, teaching core courses in paper and parchment restoration since 2019-20. She also operates Post-Scriptum, a specialized restoration laboratory founded in 1995 that serves public and private clients with conservation of books, archival materials, and leather/parchment objects.
Her academic foundation includes a degree in Modern History from the University of Bologna and a 1992 diploma in "Restoration of Books, Drawings, and Prints" from Florence's Istituto per l'Arte e il Restauro Palazzo Spinelli. She has continuously updated her expertise through refresher courses and conference presentations.
Zanasi's research focuses on material evolution from ancient papermaking to industrial processes, with deep specialization in antique book structures, binding techniques, and restoration methodologies for leather/parchment volumes. Her work bridges historical analysis with hands-on conservation, emphasizing preventive methods and technical documentation.
At Post-Scriptum laboratory, she handles complex restorations of rare bindings and leather objects while maintaining academic rigor through ministerial compliance and custom conservation housing. Her teaching integrates museum visits (Malatestiana Library, Bodoni Museum) and practical prototyping to develop student proficiency in historical techniques.
