Carlo Signorelli

Carlo Signorelli is a Full Professor of Hygiene and Public Health at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, serving as Director of the Post-Graduate School in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine. He has held leadership roles including Past-President of the Italian Society of Hygiene (SItI) and Treasurer of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA). His expertise spans public health, epidemiology, environmental health, and vaccination policies. He co-authored Italy’s National Immunization Schedule and advises the Ministry of Health.

Education: MD from the University of Milan (1986), MSc and PhD in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He is a specialist in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine.

Research focuses on vaccination strategies, public health policy, and healthcare system analysis. His work emphasizes epidemiological studies on infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections, and pandemic responses. Over 1500 publications include 30 university textbooks and 400+ peer-reviewed articles.

Awards: Prix de la Santé (2002), Milan Ambassador Programme (2013), and SItI’s Best Abstract Award (2014). He chairs ASPHER, chairs numerous national/international congresses, and serves on technical committees for health policy development.

Teaching: 30+ years of academic experience across Italian and international universities, including courses on hygiene, public health law, and healthcare organization.
