About
Carey Shive is Assistant Professor of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Research Health Scientist at the Cleveland VA Medical Center. She studies inflammation and immune dysfunction in chronic viral infections and aging.
Her research demonstrates that soluble CD14 serves as a general monocyte activation marker rather than specific indicator of microbial translocation in HIV. She has characterized mechanisms of CD4 T-cell depletion despite ART suppression, showing inflammatory cytokines impair IL-7 responsiveness.
Current work examines immune senescence in elderly populations with/without chronic infections, seeking therapeutic strategies for inflammation-related comorbidities.
