Camilla Rindstedt, Associate Professor at Stockholm University's Department of Child and Youth Studies, specializes in linguistic anthropology and social interaction research. Since 2008, she has conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Ecuador and Swedish pediatric oncology centers, focusing on children's play, work dynamics, and coping strategies in healthcare settings.
- PhD in Child Studies (Linköping University)
- Teaches at Master's program in Child and Youth Science
- Course responsible for Ethnographic Methods
Research interests span two major contexts: (i) sibling interactions and parent-child dynamics in Ecuadorian indigenous communities, and (ii) pediatric healthcare environments. Her work employs video ethnography to analyze narrative styles, emotion work, and socialization processes.
Publication trends show interdisciplinary focus combining anthropology, medical sociology, and communication studies. Key themes include:
- Medical interaction analysis
- Child healthcare practices
- Language socialization
- Imaginal coping mechanisms
- Video-ethnographic methodology
Current projects examine multicultural interactions in Swedish child healthcare centers (BVC) and bodily care practices in preschools. A completed book Barn möter vården (2013) explores children's strategies for handling cancer through play and imagination.
