Camelia Suleiman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian, and African Languages at Michigan State University, focusing on the Sociolinguistics of Arabic and its contact with Hebrew. She previously led the Arabic Program (2012-2020) and served as Interim Director of the Citizen Scholars Program (2020). Her research explores intersections of language, race, gender, media, and sociopolitical dynamics in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Her recent publications analyze the politics of Arabic in Israel, including a 2017 study on sociolinguistic implications of Israel's Nation-State Bill and a 2011 work on language and identity in the Middle East. Research has garnered media coverage and institutional recognition.
Her work spans cross-regional collaborations, such as co-teaching in Nazareth, Israel, and initiatives like the Arabic language conversation program pairing MSU students with Syrian refugees. She contributes to symposia on Arabic identities and has secured Arabic Flagship Scholarships for students.
