CISSAO Yacouba

Dr. CISSAO Yacouba is a Research Fellow and Research Officer in Sociology-Anthropology at the National Center for Scientific and Technological Research (CNRST) in Burkina Faso, affiliated with the Institute of Social Sciences (INSS). He holds a Unique Doctorate in Sociology from Ouaga 1 University Pr Joseph Ki-Zerbo (2014-2018) and advanced training from multiple institutions. His professional trajectory includes roles as Research Engineer (2014-2018) and Research Associate (2018-2021) at CNRST/IRSAT.

His research focuses on migration, mobility, security, conflict management, gender, and border dynamics in West Africa. Notable contributions include studies on transnational religious networks, local governance in conflict zones, and gender leadership in Burkina Faso. He has been awarded the Coimbra Group Scholarship (2019) and African Studies Center Leiden Fellowship (2022).

Cissao’s work bridges socio-anthropological theory with applied research, addressing contemporary challenges like land conflicts, migration patterns, and security perceptions. His publications span academic journals, conference proceedings, and collaborative reports, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches to socio-political issues.
